Prima di partire per New York ho letto libri e guide, blog e riviste, e mi sono fatta un'idea di cose da fare. Una settimana non è tanto tempo, ma ho girato parecchio, anche con i bambini al seguito. Ecco alcune cose che ho fatto e che "suggerisco" come spunto di viaggio ... poi New York farà il resto e vi darà tante altre idee!
1.
Vedere la citta’ dall’alto.
Sono salita sull’Empire State Building ma non mi ha entusiasmato; troppa gente in uno spazio ristretto. Molti dicono che sia meglio il Top of the Rock al Rockefeller Center.
Volevo prendere un aperitivo sulla terrazza dell’Hotel
Standard (848 Washington at 13th Street, New York 10014, vicino all’High line) ma non ce l'ho fatta; in compenso sono salita sulla terrazza dell’ultimo
piano del Metropolitan Museum (MET) da dove si apre una veduta mozzafiato e si può bere qualcosa seduti sull'erba.
2. Andare a Central Park.
Abbiamo soggiornato a 5 minuti a piedi da Centrale Park, per cui ci siamo andati ogni giorno; a Central Park:
- abbiamo preso una carrozza con i cavalli (costa
circa 35/40 dollari per 20 minuti di giro);
- siamo andati allo zoo di Central Park – piccolo ma suggestivo;
- i bambini hanno passato ore sulle
giostre dei Victorian Gardens;
- non siamo riusciti (disdetta) a
bere
qualcosa (o anche pranzare o, nel periodo primavera/estate, cenare) al
The Loeb
Boathouse (
East 72nd St & Park
Dr North).
... e molte altre cose che vedrete ...
Before going to New York I read books and travel guides, blog and magazines, so I had many ideas of what to do there. A week is not so much time, but I went around a lot, also with the children behind. Here are some things I did and I "suggest" as travel ideas ... then New York itself will give you many other ideas!
1.
See the city from on high.
I've been on Empire State Building but I didn't like it so much; too many people in a little space. Many say it's better Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.
I wanted to take an aperitif on Hotel
Standard terrace (848 Washington at 13th Street, New York 10014, near all’High line) but at the end I didn't; but I've been on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum (MET) where you have a breath taking panorama and you can drink something sitting on the grass.
2. Go to Central Park.
We staied in a place 5 minutes walking from Central Park, so every day we spent some time in Central Park, where:
- we took a horse drawn carriage (it costs more or less 35/40 dollars for 20 minutes);
- we've been in Central Park zoo – little but nice;
- children spent hours on the carousels of
Victorian Gardens;
- we did not succeed to
drink something (or also have lunch or, in spring/summer period, also dinner) at
The Loeb
Boathouse (
East 72nd St & Park
Dr North).
